About Us
Open Space Volunteers were established by a group of friends during the summer of 2013, after the sad closure of another group due to the lack of funding however, the frienships forged were so strong that the group decided that they wanted to continue the good cause and hardwork and so have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to lay the foundations and establish OSV. The group is based at Sandwell Park Farm where they have become much respected by both Park staff and visitors alike.
We are proudly growing in strength week by week and have started to forge links with other community groups in the Sandwell Borough something we hope to build on as time goes by.
Managed by a committee of volunteers, OSV meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the Farm where they have then gone off to work in and around Sandwell Valley Country Park on a variety of projects including, hedge laying, coppicing, woodland management and a couple of the members even worked on the original creation of the mountain bike trail famous for hosting the 24 hour Red Bull Mountain Mayhem in 1999 And 2000!
Everybody is welcome to join us on either Tuesdays or Thursdays or indeed both days, we usually welcome a dozen volunteers each week of all ages and backgrounds.
